Icebug is a Swedish footwear manufacturer that set out to prevent injuries to runners caused by slipping on ice and snow in the winter. The key behind Icebug shoes is the BUGrip® outsole. The outsole was designed by Ironman triathlete Sid Kastner who found it difficult to have quality training sessions on the winters of Montreal, Quebec and Stowe, Vermont. His design provides consistent traction from ice to snow to hard surfaces like cement. The studs retract on soft surfaces, allowing the rubber sole to grip and preventing skidding.
