Our History

Garmont makes the world’s best fitting, highest performance hike and ski boots, combining time-tested European design traditions with modern innovation to help you challenge yourself in the outdoors. Since 1964, the innovation, comfort, and durability of our products has earned the trust of professional athletes, hiking and skiing enthusiasts, the United States military, and other loyal customers in more than 40 countries.

Garmont Tradition

In the Montebelluna region of Northern Italy where Garmont is based, footwear has defined many families for over a century. In our case, an unbroken lineage of five generations is the foundation of a long-standing, highly-respected development and production operation.

For nearly one and a half centuries, we’ve had only one focus: innovative, comfortable, and high-quality outdoor footwear and ski boots. The Garmont collection honors this tradition while drawing inspiration from every continent—combining the style, quality, and craftsmanship of Italy's past with global innovations of the present and future.

The Future

In 2011, we moved our North American headquarters to Portland, Oregon. The progressive business climate, strong and innovative footwear community, and year-round access to world-class hiking, climbing and skiing destinations made it an ideal match for Garmont.
